Response: Dear Fat People

**Update: As of Sunday Sept 6th, Nicole Arbour's videos have been disabled. Per Nicole, YouTube has diablos her account, but YouTube has denied this claim lending merit to the speculation that Nicole herself has disabled her account in order to gain more exposure. Ironically, this tactic is working for her as many news sources are now covering the story of this shut down, such as CNN. I hope that the channel and all of the videos are put back online, because as I do not agree with the content, I do believe in freedom of speech. I also believe that important conversations were brought about by what was said in her video.

There are so many things in this video that are inaccurate, that I don't even know where to start. I'll start here: Did you ever think that your "bomb of truth" might injure someone? Your channel gaining followers due to some viral videos (which is probably the motivation behind this video) the shrapnel from your "bomb of truth" may hit young people and fester. Not in a motivating way, but in a damaging way. You obviously don't understand what body positivity is or you would see that it isn't an excuse. It is a way to teach people to love themselves in the body they are in. Because loving yourself gives you motivation to stay around longer. To make healthy choices. Shaming people into losing weight doesn't work. You are telling them that they are useless in their current form and they should change so they can become worthy of love and basic acceptance. Change doesn't happen over night. No one spends years trying to change because of negative motivation. An obese person may look ahead and see YEARS of work to change themselves into the person society thinks they should be. Negative motivation is an oxymoron. Shaming to affect change doesn't last. Loving yourself as you are can be motivation to change. Feeling good about yourself leads to self respect and good choices when it comes to your health.

Also you assume that the boy on the plane was not disabled, just because all you saw was that he was fat. I doubt you read through his medical records, and his disability may have had nothing to do with his weight.

And saying "the truth is I will love you no matter what" at the end of a video where all you did was say how worthless fat people are is like saying "no offense" before a completely offensive statement. It means nothing.

Not all fat people are unhealthy. Maybe you should spend some time and look through some of those #bodypositivity posts and see these people running marathons, eating healthy meals, doing Yoga poses you could only dream of.

God forbid your video causes anyone to injure themselves. Or your motivation justifies someone's feelings of worthlessness.

You are not funny. You are a person who posts things that you know will piss people off so that you can bring more views to your channel because that is how you get paid. Take your privileged skinny blonde white girl card and shove it up your ass where it belongs. And while you are at it, take the term "more cushion for the pushin" and stick that up there as well!

Here are a few response videos posted by others that mirror my sentiments.

This woman may have the motivation of
promoting her new TLC show, but she is
also the woman who started the NoBS Campaign.
You may recognize her from the video where she
dances like there's no tomorrow.

You may already know that I am partial to
Meghan Tonjes and her influence within
 the body positivity movement.
Here is her response

Meghan may have received the most media
coverage but the visibility of her response
sparked a response from another, more well
known comedian. Grace Helbig is not known
for playing into the drama of the online
community, but she had this to say.

This guy has some things to say about the
video and he also agrees with some of the
supposed goals of the video, but points out
that the way it was done was
ineffectual and possibly damaging.

I also love this reaction and it mirrors a lot of what
I said in his blog as well

Nicole did respond to the negativity she has been receiving by saying that she set a trap for internet trolls and white knights and they all fell right in. She is definitely right about one thing: In the end she was trolling us. Her video got so many views because we all shared it. Even those of us who think she is spewing a bunch of BS and hate, posted the video on our Facebook walls and I posted it here on this blog to let people view it and judge for themselves. I will even post her most recent video below, because I feel like it proves my point. She is talking in circles and using jump cuts to throw random shit together, while not really saying much. In this one video she complains about how easily people are offended, then says she would disown her own child for leaving rude comments on people's videos. Sounds like she is the one who is easily offended. She Says that being offended is killing comedy, but in the end of her video, she back pedals and says making hate filled racial or homophobic slurs is obviously not ok. Apparently those are the only two things that are untouchable to this chick. Why not just own it and be an equal opportunity Asshat?  At least that I can respect.
