Sitting at the front desk

For 2 whole weeks I will be sitting at the front desk at my office. The office manager is going on vacation and I have been training as her back up since I started working there. I am kins of freaked out, but I think I will do fine. I really really hope nothing goes wrong though. I want to prove myself. I have been working hard to learn everything, but there is always the self doubt lingering in the back of my mind when I have to do something new for the first time.

Lydia is really sick, and I tried hard to stay away from her as much as possible since there is no way I can take a day off if I end up contracting whatever it was she had. I cannot sleep on the bathroom floor while trying to run the office. Cross your fingers for me. I will just keep telling myself "You know what you are doing. you can do this."

I've always loved that lyric from Fiona Apple. "Full is not heavy as empty" This is so true. Just think how heavy things feel when they are empty. Of course I'm not talking about containers, but things in life... or just life itself. Right now I'm about half full. I have my kids and my husband and I am working on getting a career started. So half full is about accurate. Studying for my exit final is stress on a stick. (thanks Laura now everything is on a stick) I don't have a lot of time for a long post right now since I am at a friends house and I feel bad for letting her ply with my kids so I can indulge in the internet. I will be back soon though. i have 5 more days before I start my weening from prozac. So I will be back to update.

Tempted

I finished reading Tempted by Kristen and P.C. Cast. It is the latest installment from the House of Night Series. The series is geared towards young adults, which I like to read because they are easy and fast. Or as I like to call them Quick and Dirty! It was a good read and took some interesting turns in the story line. The complaint I have is that I have been waiting months to get my hands on this book and it seemed so short. There is obviously a new book in the works, but I wanted more. After that long wait I was a little disappointed that the book only covered a few days. Besides that it was what I expected. The writing isn't the best, but I knew that going in. If you like vampires (or vampyres - as they are called in this book) and easy reading - young adult books, then I recommend you pick up Marked which is the first book in the series.

It’s Time to Give 2017 the Boot!

I know it is cliché, but I have to do it. A New Year’s post. Time slips by quicker every year. A year is nothing anymore. Plans fly away on pieces of paper, never completed. Days and weeks fly by and my kids grow and the opportunity to “Raise” them flies right out the window. Work turns into life and weekends are for rest instead of fun. But as I look back on the year, there were some pretty cool things going on in life. We started off the year on wobbly legs feeling some growing pains within our family. And that is a large suitcase to unpack. So, we will leave that alone. I took Kayla, Christa and Jonathan to see their favorite comedian, Chris D’elia in San Francisco and we had a fun adventure walking and then taking an Uber around the area. We also sat in the front row and drank root beer floats. It was awesome.
